Resources for Educators

The University of Texas Press publishes the results of original research in a variety of disciplines. This section will help you find books that are appropriate for course use.

For faculty members considering a book for course use, please fill out and submit an examination copy request (options below).

For faculty members who have already decided to use a book and have placed a campus bookstore order can submit a desk copy request.

Print Examination Copies

All books listed at $35 or less are available as print examination copies at a $5 nonrefundable fee per copy, paid in advance. There are no additional charges for shipping. All requests are subject to approval and there is a limit of three print examination copies per instructor per semester.

Digital Examination Copies

For the first time, we are offering free digital examination copies for recently published scholarly books. After submitting a request, instructors will be provided a password-protected link where a watermarked PDF of the book requested will be available for download. There is a limit of five digital examination downloads per instructor per semester.

Desk Copies

We offer complimentary desk copies to course instructors who have adopted a UT Press book for their class, minimum enrollment of 10 students. Instructors may request 1 copy per 50 students enrolled (10-50 students: 1 copy; 51-100 students: 2 copies; etc.).

Before we can send a desk copy, we must receive a request from the instructor and a minimum, confirmed order of 10 copies per title from the campus bookstore. If additional copies are needed for assistants, they may be purchased, in advance, at a 20% discount. All requests are subject to approval.
